Strength, endurance, power, speed, agility and co-ordination...these are just some of the benefits of boxing and is the reason why the boxing program is one of the most popular activities at Lang Park PCYC.

Head Coach Phil Ragonessi brings a wealth of experience to the club. He and his Assistant Coach Adam Bell (both Boxing QLD Registered Trainers) provide a solid workout which is both enjoyable and rewarding.

A typical class consists of a warm up of skipping and body strength excercises followed by a fitness/conditioning session. Heavy bag conditioning drills come next-here you will learn basic boxing skills and improve your fitness level.  The class usually splits into two groups midway through the session as seen below.

Group One- structured for competitive boxers and those wanting to focus on the technichal aspects of boxing (footwork, defensive drills, offensive drills and sparring)

Group Two-another group structured for participants looking for an intense and solid boxing workout focusing on basic boxing skills without the sparring.

Wednesday 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Thursday 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Saturday 8:30 am- 10:00am

Saturday boxing sessions is for the more serious participants as it involves advanced hand pad techniques performed in pairs.


Anyone who is interested in boxing should bring a water bottle , towel, skipping rope and boxing gloves. Skipping ropes are available at PCYC Lang Park reception for a cost of $6.00.

PCYC Lang Parks boxing facilities include a 3/4 size boxing ring, speed balls , floor to ceiling balls and boxing bags.
